Taking a personal Artist Survey

Components of Class

  • A. Study of artists & trends. In addition to your class, students are expected to visit local galleries 3 times and art museums on their own. An understanding of contemporary art and trends can help to inspire and guide students in their own work. If covid19 presents concerns online research.

  • B. A Sketchbook - 8” x 10” or larger, to be comprised of visual ideas, notes, photos, doodles, plans, short assignments, selected works, sustained investigations (15), these can include images of the progress of Selected Works, also known as breadth.

  • C. Development of the student's work submitted to their digital free website Artsonia, selected works of excellence (5) also known as concentration

  • D. One written paper

Self Directed Work; with Advanced Studio Art Check-In for each work:

  • 5 physical works that each demonstrate synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas using 2D, 3D, and/or drawing.

  • 15 works and/or images of work and/or process of work, in sketchbook demonstrating sustained investigation through practice, experimentation, and revision.

  • All Selected Works published to your free, personal, online website, Artsonia

  • Advanced Studio Art Check-In Form

Review Elements of Art and Principles of Design

Portfolio Day - Final Day, timed Google Slide or flash drive in class presentation of your work from the year, artist choice , minimum 6 works and 3 artists of interest.

Time Management

The individual student is responsible to keep on track of their work, with scheduled mid-point check-in and work due date. An in-progress worksheet is to be filled out and reviewed together at Check-in and a rubric for the grade at the due date. The student makes an online Artsonia post of their work.

      • Work #4 : start by 4/18/2022 , check-in 4/27/2022, Due 5/11/2022

      • Work #5 Start by5/12/2022, check-in 5/24/2022, Due 6/8/2022

      • Friday Studio Day for Sustained Investigation or extra day for project. There are 20 Fridays in the semester, you are responsible for 15 sustained investigations

  • Final: Presentations during 2 hour final window

  • Invited artist guest speaker, interviews via Zoom or Google Duo

  • College presentations - Zoom interviews
